Weitzman Gets Stamp Honour In Spain

Shoemaker to the stars Stuart Weitzman has landed a bizarre honour in Spain - his first Oscars Million Dollar Shoe features on a new postage stamp.

The sparkling design, which was worn by Mulholland Drive star Laura Harring at the 2002 Academy Awards, featured 464 Kwiat cut diamonds, set in platinum on a platinum mesh frame.

The stamp honour comes after Weitzman became the first non-Spaniard to receive the Favourite Adopted Son of Elda honour by dignitaries of the area, where the shoemaker's manufacturing headquarters is based.

The title has only been bestowed on four other people since the end of the Spanish Civil War, over 70 years ago.

The new Weitzman stamp features an image of Harring's shoe and the company's logo.

The proud shoemaker says, "I feel proud for our local shoe industry, that, perhaps its most recognised shoe has been memorialised on the commemorative stamp?" »

Mulligan: 'Knightley Is My Best Friend'

Carey Mulligan counts Keira Knightley as one of her dearest pals - even though she fell for her Pride & Prejudice co-star's beau Rupert Friend on the film's set.

Mulligan met Knightley when they were cast as sisters in the 2005 re-telling of Jane Austen's classic love story - a film which also introduced the Pirates of the Caribbean star to her future partner Friend.

The newcomer admits making her first film was full of new experiences, including a crush on Knightley's boyfriend.

She explains, "I fell in love with everybody on that film. I was in love with Rupert Friend for like a month. He's one of my good friends now. It was like, 'Oh, boys! You, you, you and you' - the boom, the sound guy, lighting, yes, everyone. I'd not really been around! I didn't end up with any of them. I had very romantic crushes. Being on a film set was mad."

But the 24 year old insists her infatuation didn't prevent her from befriending Knightley, who she now calls her role model.

Mulligan adds, "She's done bigger films than I have done. Obviously - she's massively famous. But, yeah, she is (a role model). She has a lot of bad stuff to deal with. She gets a really hard time from the press sometimes, and she deals with it really gracefully. Also, she's one of my best friends, so it's hard to talk about her really. We're really close. Keira and I are very tight." »

Franco Stunned By Massive Soap Script

Spider-man star James Franco realised his two-month stint on General Hospital would be a challenge when soap opera bosses asked if he needed an autocue to feed him his lines.

The actor surprised daytime TV devotees after signing up to star as a mysterious new character on the long-running drama last month, but admits he was shocked when he was handed a hefty 65-page script to memorise for just a single day's filming.

He explains, "It's been a blast so far. It was kind of mind-blowing. I've worked one day on it. It's one day of a few. But I think we packed seven episodes of my material in. They gave me a script for the day that was as thick as a film script and that's what we planned to shoot in a single day. No ad-libbing.

"If I needed it, they said they had a teleprompter, but the regulars didn't use it so I didn't want to use it, either. Anyway, I'm pretty good at remembering lines."

And the 31 year old insists he's still getting to grips with the series' fast-paced shooting schedule.

He adds, "One big difference (between soaps and films) is that you do one take. They're going for one take because they have about four cameras for each set-up. It's one take - you do the whole scene and then you're onto the next. That's three or four pages in a moment."

Franco's first episode of General Hospital is set to air on 20 November. »

Cameron: 'Titanic Was Made To Fund Shipwreck Dive'

Moviemaker James Cameron has revealed the biggest film of all time was only made to fund a deep-sea mission to the real Titanic.

The director admits he had no intention of making an epic when he set out to film Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1997 movie - he just wanted to make enough money to go on a dream dive.

He tells Playboy magazine, "I made Titanic because I wanted to dive to the shipwreck, not because I particularly wanted to make the movie.

"The Titanic was the Mount Everest of shipwrecks, and, as a diver, I wanted to do it right.

"When I learned some other guys had dived to the Titanic to make an IMAX (jumbo-screen) movie, I said. 'I'll make a Hollywood movie to pay for an expedition to do the same thing.'

"Titanic was about 'f**k you money'. It came along at a point in my life when I said, 'I can make movies until I'm 80, but I can't do expedition stuff when I'm 80.'" »

Fishburne Glad He Turned Down Pulp Fiction

Laurence Fishburne has no regrets about turning down a role in Pulp Fiction, because he could never have played ruthless hitman Jules Winnfield as well as his pal Samuel L. Jackson.

Director Quentin Tarantino approached Fishburne to star alongside John Travolta in his 1994 crime thriller - but the Apocalypse Now star declined the part.

The movie went on to be a huge hit, reigniting Travolta's career and earning Jackson an Oscar nomination.

But Fishburne isn't jealous, insisting the role was made for his close friend.

He says, "I decided not to do it, because I couldn't respond to the part. As a whole piece, it didn't speak to me. It didn't feel like something I needed to do. It's the part that Sam Jackson wound up doing brilliantly.

"I'm glad I didn't do it, because Sam is a bada**.'" »

Roth Calls For A Basterds Prequel

Eli Roth can't wait to get started on an Inglourious Basterds prequel - because he's already shot a scene with Cloris Leachman that he hopes will be included.

The actor/director reveals Quentin Tarantino left a lot on the cutting room floor after wrapping the first film - and Roth feels sure it's good enough to be included in another movie.

He says, "We have three scenes that we shot in Boston that take place before the war, and Quentin says if he does the prequel, he's going to use them. They're not going to be DVD extras.

"There's a great scene with me and Cloris Leachman. I go and get her to sign the (his trademark) bat. It's me and the little old Jewish ladies of the neighbourhood."

And Roth isn't the only 'basterd' keen to make another movie.

He tells Eonline.com, "Everybody would drop whatever they're doing to go back to work with Quentin. All the time, (co-star) Brad (Pitt) says, 'Prequel, prequel!' All the 'basterds' would jump on it in a second." »

Dina Lohan Blasts Michael After Tape Leak

The bitter war of words between Lindsay Lohan's family rages on - the actress' mum Dina has blasted her ex-husband Michael for violating a court order by "harassing" her.

The Mean Girls star was furious with her dad after he released tapes of several tearful phone conversations between her and her mother earlier this month.

Now the 23 year old's mum has waded into the feud after Michael's latest leak, a 2008 phone call in which Dina claims the actress was "f**ked up" by Heath Ledger's fatal drug overdose.

And the Lohan matriarch insists her ex shouldn't have been contacting her at the time - because a judge had ordered him to keep away.

She says, "I have had a criminal order of protection from the domestic violence sector since 2005 (valid through 2011). He was not supposed to even be harassing me by phone...

"The tapes were from a long time ago, and for a father to stoop this low is unforgivable. My ex-husband has been in and out of jail for 10 years. My children and I gave him a chance to get to know them again, and he clearly blew that chance!"

And Dina claims she's prepared to take legal action against Michael in a bid to keep him from releasing more tapes, adding, "My heart is breaking for my children that he could do this. He has no visitation anymore and is six months behind in child support. The authorities have been alerted!"

Michael Lohan claims he's leaking the calls with Dina, Lindsay and her former assistant Jenni Munro in a bid to convince his daughter to seek help for an alleged drug addiction. »

Dame Edna Everage is returning to the Broadway stage next year for a new one-woman show.

The drag-queen alter-ego of entertainer Barry Humphries will take to the stage for It's All About Me on 23 March, at a yet-to-be-announced New York venue.

Everage is already stirring up controversy nearly six months before the production debuts - her performance shares the same name as singer Michael Feinstein's new show, which opens just a week later.

In a statement, Everage tells Daily Variety, "While I was saddened to hear that Mr. Feinstein did not heed my sage advice to change the title of his show, I'm overjoyed to hear that he at least took my suggestion to open his show after mine."

It's Everage's third stint on the New York stage - after 2000's The Royal Tour and 2004's Back with A Vengeance. »

Williams Released From Jail

Comedian Katt Williams has been released from jail after he was arrested and accused of breaking into a friend's Georgia home.

The funnyman insists he's innocent, despite a police report which suggests the star used a crowbar to break into music mogul Barry Hankerson's rural mansion.

Williams' lawyer claims the comedian has been a guest at Hankerson's home for the past month.

The comic was released from the Coweta County jail in Georgia after posting $40,000 (£25,000) bail on Monday night.

Williams denies reports he stole jewellery and collectible coins from Hankerson.

His lawyer insists his client had argued with an employee at Hankerson's horse farm, and he had called the police with a burglary report.

Hankerson spoke with investigators on Monday to assure them that Williams had permission to stay indefinitely in the home he was accused of burglarising.

Alan Clarke, a Georgia attorney who represented Williams in court on Monday, says, "This is a misunderstanding which will work out quickly." »

Cameron Insists Winslet's Titantic Troubles Weren't That Bad

Moviemaker James Cameron hopes to work with Titanic star Kate Winslet again even though the actress once revealed the intense director tried to drown her.

Stars of Cameron's films have often criticised the filmmaker for his extreme techniques - and Winslet went public with the fact she often prayed for death during miserable water tank scenes in Titanic.

But the director feels sure the Brit was simply over-exaggerating the fact she almost died while making the blockbuster love story.

He tells Playboy magazine, "We simply let Kate think she was nearly drowning. A little spluttering and coughing does not count in my book, because I have almost drowned several times and I know what it feels like.

"Asking God to please let you die? I was thinking the same thing at about the same point (in the film)... Kate probably got some unnecessary stress from me, but I would say 99 per cent of her stress was internally induced as part of her acting process.

"The real question is, 'Would she work with me again...?' My guess is, absolutely. I'd certainly work with her again; she's very talented."

But Cameron suggests he has no plans to work with her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio again: "Leo DiCaprio switches his acting on and off like a faucet." »

Lopez Wins Restraining Order Against Ex

Jennifer Lopez has been granted a temporary restraining order barring former husband Ojani Noa from releasing home videos of their honeymoon and brief marriage.

Noa, who was in the Los Angeles court for Tuesday's ruling, insisted he had no plans to sell the candid footage, but he had hoped to make a mockumentary about his life as a Cuban immigrant.

And now the latest Lopez injunction has put that project on hold.

Outside court, Noa told the media, "She is destroying my life."

Noa insisted he was only using the home video footage Lopez was concerned about for inspiration as he penned the screenplay for the film.

He tells the Los Angeles Daily News, "We were watching with writers and directors and producers because we were getting the script down. We were writing about the characters... She's trying to step on my shoes and not let me move on with my life, and it's not fair."

The footage reportedly includes images of Lopez "fondling herself".

The judge overseeing the case has ordered Noa and film partner Ed Meyer to turn over all material related to the movie.

Lopez filed a $10 million (£6.25 million) lawsuit on Friday, claiming Noa was violating a confidentiality agreement by moving ahead with his plans for a documentary-style movie called How I Married Jennifer Lopez: the J.Lo and Ojani Noa Story.

Noa will return to court on 1 December to fight the restraining order.

But the judge, James Chalfani, insists Lopez has a "very strong probability of success" in making the temporary order permanent.

It's the latest victory in Lopez's ongoing battle with her first husband, who also managed her Pasadena, California restaurant Madre's - in 2007 the singer/actress was successful in banning Noa from releasing his memoirs. »
